Ch. Muhammad Ashraf

The late Ch. Muhammad Ashraf, the founder of Ashraf Group of Industries, devoted his time and energies to transform unproductive resources into prosperity, fossils into energy, and obscurity into fortunes.

Born in a politically influential family of landed gentry from Chaillianwala, District Gujrat, Punjab, Ch. Muhammad Ashraf expanded his ancestral estate in Chaillianwala and Rahim Yar Khan by purchasing large tracts of wasteland in Sindh’s lower riparian close to shores of the Arabian Sea. Through sheer hard work, the lands were made arable.

Ch. Muhammad Ashraf’s journey of excellence commenced in the early 1950s, by establishing a construction firm which soon became a giant organization operating at national level and successfully implemented various infrastructure and major construction ventures, which included Canal, Bridges, Hospitals, Airport and mega industrial and commercial projects.

The dynamic entrepreneurial qualities of Late. Ch. Muhammad Ashraf expended into various business segments, which included acquisition of coal mines in Lakhra Coal fields in Hyderabad, Sindh, in 1970 and at Dandot, Punjab, in 1978 followed by the establishment of a Flour Mill in Rahim Yar Khan. In 1981, he started Bahawalpur Sugar Mill, which was completed it in a record short span of 13 months.

Throughout his stellar career, Ch. Muhammad Ashraf created sustainable economic activities by starting mega projects in the most underdeveloped areas in Punjab and Sindh.

Ch. Muhammad Ashraf’s innate leadership skills, business acumen and initiative coupled with sustained hard work helped him build a business empire and a legacy of integrity and selfless service which remains a beacon of light for his successors to this day.
