H.M. Iqbal Coal Mines (Pvt.) Ltd. is an integral component of AGI. Located in Hyderabad, (Sindh) at the LAKHRA Coal fields, the biggest coal deposit in Pakistan, the group’s leasehold mines are stretched over an area of 2,000 acres (800 Hectares). Acquired in 1970 for 30 years, the lease of the mines is renewed after every 10 years. The Lakhra mines operations employ approximately 400 miners, with an annual extraction of 20,000 to 50,000 tons of coal which is primarily used in brick kilns.
In 1978, H.M. Iqbal Coal Mines (Pvt.) Ltd. also acquired mining rights in Dandot in the plateau of Tehsil Pind Dadan Khan, District Jhelum in Punjab, at a distance of 175 miles from Lahore. Spread over an area of 1000 acres (400 Hectares), these mines have an annual extraction of 50,000 to 70,000 tons of Coal which is suitable for cement plants and brick kilns
AGI has acquired leasehold & exploration rights of stone quarry (granite) in Nagar Parkar near (Karonjhar Hills) District Tharparkar in the name of K.M. Mining & Minerals and M/s Red Bricks over an area of 100 acres, 46.1 acres and 24 acres respectively. The area is famous for fine quality of granite in different colors like pink, red and yellow.
In addition to Coal, Gypsum and China Clay mining also constitute a minor part of our operations.
